Severe heat cooling centers open in Portland

Portland COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster) has issued the following information

Severe Heat Cooling Centers Open

Multnomah County will open two cooling centers today from 12 PM - 9 PM in response to the National Weather Service's excessive heat warning

Please see the flyers below for cooling center locations and continue to check Help for When It's Hot for cooling center updates. TriMet will not turn away anyone who is traveling to a cooling center between 10 AM and 10 PM today.

Bud Clark Commons (operated by Transition Projects) is also extending its resource center hours until 6:30 PM today. 

DEQ Air Quality Advisory

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality advisory for the Portland-Vancouver metro area today through tomorrow Friday, September 6 until 8:00 PM.

Officials urge residents to protect their health and limit activities that cause pollution. Click this link for tips and remember that pollution levels tend to be highest during afternoon and early evening.

Cooling Spaces Available

Click this link for an interactive map of cooling spaces in Multnomah County, including libraries, community centers, parks with misting stations, interactive fountains and splash pads. 

Multnomah County Central and Gresham libraries will be open until 8 PM tonight with bottled water available.
